About the event
For too long white people have avoided honestly discussing the ways in which they contribute to the racial oppression in our country. In her book, White Fragility: Why It's So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism, Dr. Robin DiAngelo invites us to take a look at white behaviors that sustain racial inequality and prevent meaningful dialogue and movement toward a more just society. Led by Donna Tarney in partnership with the Queen's Department of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement, that is exactly what we will do! Whether you are already involved in this work, are brand new to this idea, or are skeptical about the reality of white privilege, you are welcome to this discussion. All that we ask is that you arrive ready to share and listen. This book discussion involves three sessions: Thursday, August 20, August 27, and September 3, from 6:30 - 7:30pm. Once you register, you will receive a timeline with reading goals for each session as well as additional resources to use as we work through the book. Please register by contacting Donna Tarney at tarneyd@queens.edu Location & Time: Virtual via RingCentral 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
